eid sarajevoEid prayers in the mosques all across BiH yesterday marked the beginning of the three-day holiday of the Eid al-Fitr.

With the Eid prayer, believers dressed in the most beautiful clothes together with their neighbors welcomed one of the two largest Islamic holidays.

The traditional Eid program in Sarajevo started at 5 AM in the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque, and Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazovic gave the Eid speech. The mosque was full of believers of all ages, as well as its harem (yard) and the surrounding streets.

The Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH talked about the importance of doing good, unity, morals, repentance, forgiveness, patience and the importance of the fight against evil within ourselves.

Numerous believers also filled mosques throughout Canton Tuzla as well, and that was also the case in the Mosque of King Abdullah in Tuzla, where the central Eid ceremony for the area of Tuzla was held.

As in the majority of cities in BiH, the Eid prayer was prayed in Ferhat-Pasha’s mosque in Banja Luka, with which was marked the official beginning of the Eid al-Fitr. Ferhadija Mosque was too small to receive all believers who, besides from Banja Luka, came from the region and the world especially on this occasion.

Mufti of Banja Luka Osman Kozlic said that the month of Ramadan went in the best way possible and religious activities were conducted in accordance with their plans and programs.

The Eid al-Fitr is welcomed after the holy month of Ramadan, which is the month of fasting and a certain kind of spiritual journey that includes the escape from neglect and disobedience, and the month of wakefulness of heart and mind, and calmness of the soul.
