The BiH Minister of Communications and Transport Damir Hadžić met yesterday with the Director of the Mostar airport Marin Raspudić in Sarajevo.

Director Raspudić informed Minister Hadžić of the activities of the Mostar airport that last year managed to achieve the pre-war circulation of 80,000 passengers. He said that for next year they expect an increase of passengers by 30 percent.

“Mostar airport, with its financial resources will ensure retention of the license, but for the development of the infrastructure of this airport the support of all levels of government are necessary”, said Director Raspudić.

Minister Hadžić said that the Mostar airport is a strategic infrastructure facility for the economic development of BiH, and is especially important for the broader development of the Mostar region. He said that all levels of BiH government have to actively include themselves in the development of the infrastructure of Mostar airport.

“Mostar airport is an important factor in the development of tourism of BiH. The BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport supports the efforts of the Mostar airport in receiving passengers from Split and Dubrovnik and whose final destination is Međugorje’’, said the Minister of Communications and Transport Damir Hadžić.

Direktor Raspudić briefed Minister Hadžić about the interest of the EU for the Mostar airport and the Project AIR.NET, which is financed by EU funds within the framework of the IPA CBC Adriatic program. He added that the goal of the project is to establish new direct flights that connect the east and west coast of the Adriatic, which would improve the accessibility and mobility in this area and a more efficient connection throughout the region.
