Mostar: Bosnian Honey has a High Quality, it Must be Placed on the Foreign Market

300px-Beekeper_collecting_swarmOrganized by the Federal Agro-Mediterranean Institute, the first exhibition for promotion and assessment and a scientific workshop “”Days of honey 2014” was held in Mostar yesterday.

79 samples of honey (from Gradačac, Bihać, Glamoč, central Bosnia and Herzegovina) were tested at the laboratory of the Institute by the jury made of Stanko Čuljak from Vinkovci and Asmir Duraković from Gradačac.

“The director of the Federal Agro-Mediterranean Institute Mostar said that this exhibition aims to promote honey, and the Institute will put all its efforts into exporting Bosnian honey on the foreign market. That’s why we aimed to test the honey of the producers and to point out if there is any mistakes made while producing it so they can fix it and place their products on the foreign market.” – said Ivanković.

“It’s a real wonder for the beekeepers to have a honey with that much quality after this rough year in terms of climate. The only problem is that it’s not possible to make all types of honey because it’s mostly floral honeys. These products are very tasteful.” – said Stanko Čuljak, one of the members of the jury and the president of the apiarian association “Nektar” from Vinkovci.

Asmir Duraković, the president of the apiarian association in Gradačac has a long experience in assessing these kinds of honey.

“Despite bad conditions, the honey has a high quality. We proved our Bosnian quality in producing honey at many competitions around the world. The state should put more efforts in making legal norms, certificates, and the beekeepers should only pay attention not to ruin the thing that the bee makes so perfect.” – said Duraković.
