Although the weather in Mostar was not ideal for the carnival on Sunday morning, a colorful parade of majorettes, musicians, and children under the masks marched through the streets of Mostar. Carnival was originally scheduled for Saturday, but it was postponed due to bad weather.
“We are honored that we managed to gather a large number of participants this year. The parade involved all groups of Mostar majorettes, Croatian music Mostar, and we have a good turnout of primary schools and kindergartens,” said Anja Puhalo, head of the Mostar majorettes and one of the organizers of the carnival.
Children from kindergartens were disguised in two different groups, one group of them were strawberries, and the other were traffic signs. Puhalo especially thanked the Police Department of Mostar that allowed safe passage of the parade through the city streets.
“Always, when the procession starts, a growing number of our fellow citizens spontaneously join us, so that the number of participants is twice higher than planned, and this is the best part. The weather was not nice, but there was a great atmosphere and everyone was smiling,” said Anja Puhalo.
At the end of the parade, all the participants had the opportunity to taste the occasional donuts.
