A group of ambitious and dedicated students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Computing, and Electrical Engineering of the University of Mostar, gathered in the FSRacing team, are in the process of building a new student car (bolide), and their goal is to compete in two international competitions in Italy and Croatia next year.
The FSRacing team was founded in 2012, and “Formula Student” is currently the largest student project at the University of Mostar and one of the largest student projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). With their first car, the students from Mostar entered the competition in the Czech Republic and won 20th place out of a total of 40 universities, while the second car won 40th place in the competition in Italy out of 80 universities.
“SAE” (Society of Automotive Engineering) is the name of the world organization under whose auspices the competitions are held.
The car that Mostar students are currently working on is the third version of the vehicle, and the suspension system was adopted from previous versions.
“The mentioned system is relatively expensive and it would be quite a big investment to buy a new one, so, with limited funds, we decided to take over that part from the old model,” said Ivan Sunjic, head of the FSRacing team’s “Formula student” project.
“Given that this is our third car, we already have some experience, that is, we are in contact with colleagues from past teams, so they also help us with some problems we encounter during the production process. As for the financial part, our budget is about 40.000 BAM, and we acquire funds through sponsorships and donations,” Sunjic stated, Akta reports.
