MP Magazinovic: Croatia banned BiH companies from Participating in Public Procurement

The head of the SDPBiH Club in the House of Representatives of the state parliament, Saša Magazinović, sent a parliamentary question to the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Borjana Krišto, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, Staša Košarac, regarding the news that since last week, a Rulebook has been in force in Croatia that allows for the ban on participation in public procurement by BiH companies.

“According to the information I have, the process of legal exclusion of BiH companies from public procurement processes in other European Union countries has begun,” warns Magazinović.

As he states, the reason for this is the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a signatory to the Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) of the World Trade Organization.

This factual situation could cause incalculable consequences for the BiH economy, especially in the areas of specialized industry, energy, road construction, etc., in such a way that through the ban on participation in public procurement procedures in EU countries, the economic activity of some of the most successful BiH companies will be companies will be reduced to a drastically smaller market than it has been so far, and that these same companies will be forced to relocate their operations outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would have a wide range of harmful consequences – said Magazinović.

Since last week, a Regulation has been in force in Croatia that allows for the prohibition of participation in public procurement by BiH companies. According to the information I have, the process of legal exclusion of Bosnian and Herzegovinian companies from the public procurement process in other European Union countries has also begun, announced Magazinović.
