Tuzla-termoelektranaConstruction of hot-water pipeline Kakanj – Sarajevo, which would heat apartments and public buildings in Sarajevo, but also in the municipalities situated on this route, Visoko and Breza, will cost close to 230 million BAM, said Ejub Džaferović, leader of the team developing the feasibility study of the construction of hot water pipeline.

The total investment would be increased by about 27 million BAM, the amount needed for thermopower plant Kakanj to adjust.

For several decades, authorities speak about the construction of hot-water pipeline from the power plant Kakanj to Sarajevo. According to this idea, thermal energy obtained in the process of electricity production should be used to heat apartments and public buildings in Sarajevo. Currently, this energy is not used for anything.

In order for this idea to be more concrete, Elektroprivreda company has hired a team of experts who prepared the feasibility study for the construction of hot water pipeline.

“The study showed that this hot water pipeline is economically payable project, and that it can meet the needs of the population for heating energy. Except heating apartments and public buildings in Sarajevo, it would heat premises in Visoko, Breza, Vares and Vogosca. As for Sarajevo, all objects that are currently in the system of the public Company Toplane, would be connected to the new hot water pipeline”, said Džaferović.

He highlighted 20 percent of the funds for the construction of hot-water pipeline will be provided by Elektroprivreda from its own resources, and 80 percent through loans. The construction of hot water pipeline should begin in the next two years, but the exact date has not yet been determined.
