Based on the results of a comprehensive analysis of the criteria for the selection of 18 partner cities and municipalities, the Municipality of Cazin was selected to participate in the first stage of the Municipal Environmental and Economic Governance (MEG) Project, which is supported by the Government of Switzerland and implemented by UNDP in BiH.
Given that this is 21 million BAM worth project and that the number of considered local communities was much bigger than the selected ones, this is yet another success of the Municipality of Cazin when it comes to cooperation with international organizations.
MEG project is an initiative whose aim is to support local government units in BiH in the areas of democratic governance and public service provision, particularly in the sectors of the economy and the environment.
“We were preparing applications for this project thoroughly. We shared our key considerations to MEG project consultants who visited the municipality of Cazin. The project includes the essential topics that we are dealing with, such as environmental protection and economic and business development. Then, we announced that we are planning to be specific and to observe development from a broader perspective. Our municipality has the potential and the partnership serves us well and everything that is supposed to stimulate our economy and economic development is in the focus of our activities. I am glad that we presented Cazin in a quality manner with renowned international partners such as the Government of Switzerland and UNDP, and that we have shown that we are a local community that is doing a very good job,” said Mayor of Cazin, Nermin Ogresevic.
Concrete support of the MEG project will focus on the work with municipal councils, municipal management, services for economic development, environment, communal services and finances, and water utilities. The ceremony of marking the start of the implementation of MEG Project in BiH will be held in September this year.
