In the unfinished rooms of the Parent’s House at Jezero, built by the Association “Heart for the children suffering from cancer in FB&H”, the mayor of the Municipality of Centre, Dževad Bećirević and the President of the Association Lejla Kamerić signed the protocol concerning the Municipality’s donation of 5 000 BAM for the support to the project of constructing the Parent’s house near the Paediatrics clinic of the Clinical centre of the University in Sarajevo. The parents whose children are treated at the Clinical centre at Koševo and who are living outside the Canton of Sarajevo will be accommodated in those rooms.
A humanitarian project
The construction works on this project started in March this year. So far, 500 000 BAM has been raised thanks to 18 donators while the entire project implementation costs 1,2 million BAM. The mayor Bećirević said that the Municipality of Centre is involved in this project from the very start and that this amount is symbolic. He will suggest that bigger funds should be ensured for this purpose from the Municipality’s budget next year.
“As the chairman of the Assembly of the Federation of municipalities and towns of FB&H, I will address letters to 79 municipalities in FB&H requesting that every unit of the local government, as much as it can financially, helps further construction works of this object destined to families with place of residence outside the Canton of Sarajevo. Of course, the Municipality of Centre will, as earlier, continue to help this humanitarian project.” – said Bećirević.
The construction works
Lejla Kamerić stated that every donation no matter the exact amount is very important. “So far we have completed the majority of the construction works. It is planned that we finish the carpentry works, and the façade before winter so we could proceed with the interior works during the cold months. The object should be open by the summer 2015. It should be an efficient object when it comes to energetic resources, we should save 60 % which will facilitate the future maintaining of the object” – said Kamerić, who handed in a letter of thanks to the mayor Bećirević for his support to the Association.
The houses for the parents of the children suffering from cancer will have 666 square meters, basement, ground floor and three floors. There will be 10 suites inside, a multifunctional room with a space for playing and a living room, a kitchen and a dining room, a meeting room and a room for physical therapies and rooms for psychologists and for the Association members. There are around 50-60 children suffering from numerous carcinomas per year in the FB&H and 80 % of them lives outside the Canton of Sarajevo.
