Fire units in RS should soon get additional technical equipment which will help them fight the fire.

Funds from the Special Fireman’s Association of RS Account will help the implementation of the strengthening of fire units, and it will begin after the approval of the RS Government.

The equipment will primarily be related to the acquisition of fire hoses, apparatus for respiratory protection, new fire truck and tanks, rescue tool for traffic accidents, interventional suits, backpacks and other equipment.

According to RS Fire Brigade Union secretary Slobodan Jotić, under the Law on Fire Protection, the obligation to perform technical equipping for fire departments at the level of the RS is planned, according to the plan adopted by the Firefighters Association of RS.

“Under the new law, it goes to the consent of the Government and we have named each unit that is in need of technical improvement”, said Jotić.

He said that they expect to receive the approval for the plan and he confirmed that the funds are provided for its implementation.

He said that in RS the compensation for fire fighters is regulated by law, and municipalities should equip the local fire fighters.

”All in all, it will certainly improve the quality of service of fire fighters, and will give them technical support for their job’’, said Jotić.
