In the Museum of Sarajevo, the summer season passed very successfully, so that the number of visitors equaled the number of visitors before the coronavirus, said the acting director of the Sarajevo Museum, Igor Radovanović.

He pointed out that the Museum of Sarajevo records a visit of about 20,000 thousand tourists during the summer season, from June to September.

He added that the largest number of tourists come from the countries of the European Union, China, Japan, the United States of America, and an increasing number of tourists from Arab countries.

“The most visited is the Museum of Sarajevo 1878-1914 (Museum of Assassination), although the other Depadenses also recorded high attendance – Despić’s house, Svrzo’s house – temporarily closed for renovation, Museum of Jews and Brusa Bezistan”, said Radovanović.

According to him, tourists who visit Sarajevo are most fascinated by the Sarajevo assassination and everything related to that event.

“Tourists are very satisfied with the courtesy of the Museum staff and the information they receive,” said Radovanović.

The Museum of Sarajevo was founded in 1949 with the task of collecting, studying, preserving, publishing and presenting the social, economic and cultural history of Sarajevo from the earliest times to the present day. It has nine thematic collections, a library, a photo library and five annexes – Svrzo’s House, Despić’s House, the Museum of Sarajevo 1878-1918, the Museum of the Jews of BiH and Brusa Bezistan.

The management of the Sarajevo Museum is located in the Kosta Herman villa, a representative house in Josip Štadler Street from the 19th century. It was built for Kosta Herman, a high-ranking official of the Austro-Hungarian administration, the first director of the National Museum in Sarajevo, Fena reports.
