BH Champion in Football, FC Sarajevo, after eight years, will participate in qualifiers for the Champions League next season.
Maroon boys will skip the first qualifying pre-round, thanks to the coefficient of 5,500 points.
According to the current informal schedule, FC Sarajevo will be in the second qualifying group during the draw for the second qualifying round. Although it is possible for Sarajevo to be in the first qualifying group, there are very small chances for this to happen.
Romania’s Steaua with a total of 40,259 points, might be the biggest potential opponent for our club in the second qualifying round, at least according to current coefficients.
The interesting fact is that FC Sarajevo has a possibility to play against teams from neighboring countries: Dynamo and Partizan, who, same like Steaua, are in the first qualifying group.
According to the current coefficients list, potential opponents of FC Sarajevo are following clubs: Celtic (Scotland), APOEL (Cyprus), BATE Borisov (Belarus), Ludogoretts (Bulgaria), Maribor (Slovenia), Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel), Malmo (Sweden) , Qarabag (Azerbaijan), HJK (Finland), Molde (Norway), Midtjylland (Denmark) and Videoton (Hungary).
Some of the most famous European clubs, such as Manchester United and Monaco, will be playing in the third pre-round of qualifications for the Champions League.
Drawing of pairs will take place on the 22nd of June. Sarajevo will play their first match on the 14th or 15th of July, and return on the 21st and the 22nd of July.
FC Sarajevo did not participate in European competition in 2010, which was considerably reflected on the coefficient assigned by UEFA.
