Napoli wants Džeko as well

džekoManchester City striker Edin Džeko has emerged as a summer target for Italian giants Napoli, according to The Express.

Borussia Dortmund had been thought to be the frontrunners to land the Bosnian international but Napoli have reportedly made an early approach to steal him from under the noses of the Champions League finalists.

Both clubs are preparing to lose their star strikers this summer with Robert Lewandowski thought to be heading to either Manchester United or Bayern Munich whilst Edinson Cavani is a target for Manchester City and PSG.

Džeko is valued by City at around £24 million, a fee that surprised the German side, but Napoli are apparently keen to press ahead to take the 27-year-old to the San Paolo.

The Serie A side are also thought to be running the rule over Cagliari striker Davide Astori, but bizarrely aren’t ready to meet the Sardinian side’s £10 million valuation.

Džeko has had a mixed time in Manchester since joining from Wolfsburg in 2011 for a fee of £27 million.

He has bagged 38 goals in just over 100 appearances but he’s never been able to fully establish himself in the side with Roberto Mancini preferring Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez ahead of him.
