National park Una is the first park in Bosnia Herzegovina that applied for a nomination for the European certificate for sustainable tourism.
During this year the Europark Federation will send inspectors in order to check the nominations as well as the conditions. Accordingly, NP Una will be accredited with the important world certificate.
The World organization for environment protection WWF, in the framework of the project “Dinars’ arc parks”, included 16 parks in the Europark Federation, and in that way stimulated parks to become nominated for the sustainable tourism certificate.
“One of the most important steps in the nomination of the park for a certificate of sustainable tourism is the establishment of a forum which includes all members”, says Andrea Stefan from the WWF.
“The common strategy of sustainable tourism which is customized to the aims of the environment protection has been made. In addition, plans for action regarding the quality and offer, has been defined. All in all, the filling of the application was especially difficult. This nomination is the confirmation of the quality of B&H parks and we hope that the other parks will join the NP Una.”
National Park Una is one of the pearls of this part of Europe. With the emerald green river, this park has also an enthusiastic team which cultivates cooperation with the local people, which is a success for such a young park.
