NATO can count on the rapid mobilization of 300,000 Soldiers

NATO can count on the rapid mobilization of 300,000 soldiers made available by member countries, said a high official of the Alliance.

After the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, NATO countries agreed to significantly increase the number of soldiers they can mobilize in less than 30 days.

The responses provided by the Allies “significantly exceed the 300,000” number the Alliance had set at the time, said the official, who did not want to be named.

Such deployment of troops is part of NATO’s plans to respond to the possibility of an attack, as decided at the Alliance summit in Vilnius, Lithuania last year.

These defense plans specify what each member should do in the event of a Russian invasion.

Military commands check in each country of the Alliance whether they have the necessary capacities and whether they can implement these plans.

Agence France-Presse writes that NATO is late with anti-aircraft defense and long-range missiles, Beta writes.
