Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to strengthen relations with NATO – the message of this headquarters in Sarajevo is clear. NATO is not only a security alliance, but represents political and economic stability because, as they emphasized, no NATO member has been attacked with weapons.
“It is clear that there are several external actors who want to block the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as other countries in the Western Balkans. These actors are actively undermining state governments in order to weaken the security of institutions and the security of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and this is precisely why the Alliance promised additional assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to strengthen its own security network. And we believe that strong security foundations in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the entire region will actually strengthen investments, economic growth and development of the country”, said Pamela McGaha, commander of the NATO headquarters in Sarajevo.
“Isn’t it news to us that Russia opposes the expansion of NATO? It is very important that Bosnia and Herzegovina follows the legal framework, the decisions that we have made in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that this be the framework of action not only within the Council of Ministers, but also for all institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I believe that our place, when the conditions are created, is to be in the European Union and in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization”, said Josip Brkić, chairman of the BiH-NATO Cooperation Commission.
