After the counting of votes and the official end of the electoral process at the session of the Electoral Body of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was held today in Gazi Husrev-beg’s library in Sarajevo, the newly elected reisul-ulema Nedžad Grabus spoke.
In his first address after the election, he addressed words of gratitude to the former reisul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazovic.
“Let me first thank reisul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović for his fraternal and friendly understanding throughout this process. In particular, let us all thank him for his dignified, courageous and decisive leadership of the Islamic community during the period of two mandates,” said Grabus, also thanking
Parliament Speaker Edhem Bičakčić for the successfully conducted procedure, reports reporod.
In the following, he emphasized that the successfully conducted elections represent a victory for all members of the Islamic community in the homeland and in the diaspora.
“Today, the Islamic community won. Today, all of us, Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sandžak, Croatia, Slovenia and our entire diaspora, won, because we showed that as responsible people we can go through the very demanding and difficult process of electing the reisul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, emphasized the newly elected reisul-ulema.
He sent a message to the faithful, as well as to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirming the commitment of the Islamic community to the common good and social responsibility.
“Dear Muslim women and men in Bosnia and Herzegovina, dear citizens and fellow citizens, be sure that the Islamic community will always be with all that is good and that it will fight against all that is bad for us and for the whole society,” he concluded.
After the votes were counted, it was established that prof. 230 members of the electoral body put their trust in Dr. Nedžad Grabus. He is followed by Mensur Malkić with 128 votes and Salem Dedović with 28 votes.
