Bosnian karate has gained another reason to be proud. Sisters Nejra and Emina Sipović achieved an outstanding result at the World Karate Premier League in Rome – the most prestigious competition under the auspices of the World Karate Federation (WKF), in which only the 32 best competitors in the world compete according to the official ranking list.

Nejra Sipović won the gold medal in the senior women’s category up to 55 kg and thus became the winner of this prestigious tournament. She reached the very top with a series of great fights. In the group stage (round robin), she defeated competitors from Russia, Latvia and Belgium, and took first place in the group. In the quarterfinals, she was better than the current world champion from Egypt with a score of 4:1, while in the semifinals she defeated the representative of Russia with the same score and qualified for the final.

Emina Sipović also achieved great success, winning the bronze medal in the category up to 61 kg. In the group stage of the competition, she defeated representatives from France, Ukraine and the Netherlands. In the quarterfinals, she defeated a competitor from Egypt with a score of 1:0. After an extremely close semifinal that ended with a score of 6:5 in favor of her opponent from Japan, Emina showed great strength and confidence in the fight for bronze and convincingly defeated the representative from Slovakia with a score of 5:0.

This result represents a historic success for Bosnia and Herzegovina and confirmation of the quality of BiH karate on the world stage – it was announced by the Karate Club Ippon Sarajevo.

Throughout the competition, both sisters were led by coach Denis Muhović, who was a great supporter throughout all the matches.
