Bakir Izetbegovic comments whether His Spouse will be a Candidate for a Member of the BiH Presidency

SDA President Bakir Izetbegović spoke about the upcoming General Elections in the context of the elections for members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In an interview with “Igman” television, he emphasized that he is ready to be a candidate for any position for which the party he leads proposes him.

“What will be my fate in the SDA, a candidate for any position, will be decided by the SDA and I am completely at their disposal if they need me for anything. If they think they need me for anything, I will be,” he said.

He expects that it will not be an easy election race for a member of the Presidency from among the Bosniak people.

“12 of them gathered and that is not an easy thing at all (referring to the number of parties that have supported or intend to support the current member of the Presidency, Denis Bećirović from the SDP). If they, the Troika (SDP, NiP, NS) wrapped with several other parties, win, the sinking will continue and the SDA will continue in opposition, which the SDA must be aware of,” believes Izetbegović.

He assures that he is not afraid of competition, and as an example of this he highlighted his support for the president of NiP, Elmedin Konaković, while he was a member of the SDA.

“I promoted Konaković because of his eloquence, because he knows how to deal with the other side. Maybe I was wrong, I was not able to recognize his traitorous character. If he is able to stab in the back those who helped him, then he is able to stab anyone,” he emphasized.

Izetbegović denies that his wife, former director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) and current representative in the Assembly of the Sarajevo Canton, Sebija Izetbegović, will be the SDA candidate for a member of the Presidency.

“No, she won’t. They previously nominated her for the Presidency and I was surprised by who all nominated her and how many nominations she received. It wasn’t mature then. She is energetic, she did put KCUS in order, she managed to repay KCUS’s huge debt, all credit to her, but it has to be someone who understands diplomacy and the Armed Forces,” he pointed out.

He believes that his wife was very good at what she did before and noted that she received the largest number of votes in internal party elections, as well as in previous General Elections.
