Bosnia and Herzegovina won the fifth medal at the Mediterranean Games “Taranto 2026”, and karate player Nejra Sipović brought a new medal to our country.

Sipović won a bronze medal in the category up to 55 kilograms (kumite), confirming once again that she belongs to the very top of world karate.

Bh. the national team player performed in extremely strong competition, and placing on the podium represents the continuation of a great year for Sipović.

During 2026, she achieved a series of top results, including winning gold at the Karate1 Premier League tournament in Rome, bronze at the European Championship, while she won a bronze medal at the elite Premier League series tournament in Leshan, China, and then the historic title of Grand Winner 2026 as the first representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to win this prestigious award.

The bronze medal from Taranto gains particular importance considering that Sipović already won a medal at the Mediterranean Games. In Oran in 2022, she won bronze in the category up to 61 kilograms.

For Bosnia and Herzegovina, this is the fifth medal at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games.

The first medal was won by Ada Avdagić, who reached bronze in taekwondo, then Zakira Pušina won the historic gold in archery, Dylan Rajić won bronze in boxing in the +90 kg category, and Toni Miletić won bronze in judo up to 90 kg, while Nejra Sipović won the bronze in karate.

Bosnia and Herzegovina now has one gold and four bronze medals in Taranto.
