Netanyahu rejected the US senator’s Call to hold Elections in Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected US Senator Chuck Schumer’s idea to hold elections in Israel.

Netanyahu said that it was up to the people of Israel to decide, and that elections during the war would be a victory for Hamas, as the conflict would be frozen for six months.

“If we stop the war now, before all the goals have been achieved, it means that Israel will lose the war and we will not allow that. Therefore, we cannot and will not give in to that pressure,” Netanyahu said and repeated “that there is no international pressure that will stop Israel from achieving all of the war’s objectives.”

Schumer’s speech in the Senate on Thursday about the war between Israel and Hamas was assessed by Netanyahu as “completely inappropriate” and added that it was not done for “brotherly democracy”.

Public opinion polls show that Netanyahu would lose power if the elections were held now.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that despite international pressure, he will launch a ground attack on Rafah.

A large number of Palestinians from different parts of the Gaza Strip found refuge in Rafah.

Netanyahu said that there is international pressure on them not to carry out a ground attack on Rafah, however, they will enter this city in the territory of the Palestinian enclave.

According to a written statement from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Press Office, Netanyahu gave his assessment of the attacks on Gaza during a visit to a military unit.

“As the Israeli army prepares to continue fighting in Rafah, we face international pressure that prevents us from entering the area and completing the job. As Prime Minister of Israel, I will reject these pressures and we will enter Rafah,” Netanyahu stated.

The Israeli administration has been saying for a long time that it will launch a ground attack on Rafah, where about 1.5 million Palestinians have taken refuge.

The international community calls on Israel not to take this step, stating that a ground attack on Rafah will have serious consequences.
