12788147_1118531234864498_1789450028_nAfter the delegates of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH accepted the Draft Law on amendments to the Criminal Law of FBiH, the Minister of Justice of FBIH Mato Jozić explained to the press that amendments have been adjusted with the Criminal Law on the state level.

Jozić said that introduction of several points was planned with the amendments. Among other things, the amendments will regulate the area of human trafficking.

So far, Jozić pointed out, the practice of replacing prison sentence of up to a year with financial penalty has not been harmonized on the level of FBiH.

“There were certain different procedures. Together with the Supreme Court we have defined this article so as to harmonize the application of practice that one day of prison equals 100 BAM across all courts on the level of FBiH, Jozić said.

Moreover, the amendments foresee the possibility of transferring prisoners to a semi-open prison after serving two thirds of their sentence, in case of long-term convicts.

“Say, the convicts sentenced to 20 years in prison will be able to transfer from the prison in Zenica to a semi-open type prison with the aim of social reintegration and adjusting to life outside of the prison,” Jozić added.
