New Cases of COVID-19 and New Deaths recorded in Sarajevo

According to the data of the Public Health Institute of Canton Sarajevo, in the past 24 hours, 64 new cases of coronavirus infection in the Sarajevo Canton have been confirmed. This number is the result of an analysis conducted on 348 samples collected from January 1 to 3, 2021.

Family clusters or contacts of previously infected persons include 39 infected persons, ie 60, 93 percent of them, and they have been in self-isolation since before.

At the same time, 77 people recovered from COVID infection. There are currently 163 patients in hospital, of which 111 in clinics and in the Isolation of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo in Podhrastovi, and 52 in the General Hospital “Prof.dr. Abdulah Nakas.

“Of this number, 14 patients use mechanical respirator support when breathing, while 15 patients are on non-invasive ventilation. Nine people were released from hospital treatment yesterday.

Unfortunately, there were also four deaths, so the number of deaths caused by coronavirus in CS increased to 393. Currently, 1,129 cases of coronavirus infection are active in Sarajevo Canton.

There are 1,151 people in self-isolation. The Institute of Public Health reminds of the importance of proper wearing of a mask, physical distance, frequent and thorough hand washing, in order to prevent the spread of the infection.
