As of Tuesday, January 1st, new prices of cigarettes are in effect in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ITA BiH) reminds that, in accordance with the decision to establish a specific and minimum excise tax on cigarettes and tobacco for 2019, a proportional excise tax is payable per cigarette pack of 42 percent of the retail price and specific excise in the amount of 1.65 BAM per pile.

Excise in the amount of 114,40 BAM will be charged per kg of smoking tobacco.

The new prices are a continuation of the harmonization of excise policy in BiH with the excise policy on tobacco and cigarettes in the European Union.

Taxpayers and other persons engaged in tobacco trade in BiH are obliged to submit, until January 7th, the list of cigarettes and smoking tobacco with the inventory of excise products listed on January 1st, 2019.

Until January 17th, 2019, payment of the difference of excise duty on the inventory shall also be made.

Tobacco products for which the excise tax has been paid, according to the decision, can be sold until the stock expires and the prices have to be displayed on the place where cigarettes are sold, was warned from ITA BiH.
