Night Transportation to be introduced in Sarajevo?

Centrotrans Information System novovrijeme.baProblem with parking in Sarajevo will be partially solved with the new underground garages near the Emergency Service and the Spite House. Moreover, every municipality will be allowed to decide whether to build and collect money for parking lots in front of buildings.

The aim of the Ministry of Transportation of the Sarajevo Canton is to satisfy the needs of citizens and provide quality services. “That is why we are considering the introduction of night transportation in Sarajevo. We have a request from the company Centrotrans and the night lines will be introduced soon,” said the Minister of Transportation of the Sarajevo Canton, Mujo Fišo.

Besides the introduction of night transportation, the citizens are also requesting a bus line to the airport. Will that line finally be established?

“Both GRAS and Centrotrans have an approval for the line to the Airport, but they do not want to maintain it because it is not cost effective. They are making the problem, and the Ministry will not allow the maintenance of some other lines behind this one. Centrotrans wants to establish that timetable again, but they will have to maintain only that line, without making a line with all stops from the Airport to Baščaršija. We will see more about that.”

You said that some novelties should also be introduced when it comes to commercial lines?

“The line Dobrinja-City Hall (Vijećnica) causes big traffic jams because this line operates in the tram car lane. We will have to pay attention to this, because we cannot allow the buses to halt the tram traffic. Also, I think that the price of commercial ride is not adequate and that it should be increased, and it is realistic to expect the increase in the price of commercial rides. We must also take into account the fact that buses are air polluters, and trams are ecologically friendly vehicles.”

Apparently there is a lack of parking space in the capital. Will the reached Decree on organization and the manner of parking in the Sarajevo Canton solve this problem?

“Parking is a huge problem in the Canton and we are really giving out best to solve it. An Agreement was signed with the Novo Sarajevo Municipality that should be forwarded to the Government and the Assembly, about the construction of an underground garage near the Emergency Service. The parking will be paid hourly, but it will also have monthly and annual passes. We are also negotiating with the Municipality of Stari Grad. They intend to build an underground garage near the City Hall. The Ministry would co-finance a part of that parking and would have a share in the ownership structure of that location.”
