The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina did not make a decision to declare a Day of Mourning at the state level due to the multiple murders in Gradačac.

As it was announced, at the extraordinary telephone session, where the Proposal for the decision on declaring August 16 as the Day of Mourning in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to the tragedy in Gradačac was supposed to be discussed, there was no necessary quorum for the decision.

After some media reported that the ministers from Republika Srpska were against the declaration of the Day of Mourning at the state level, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Staša Košarac, denied those allegations.

“Our position was that this issue should be regulated in accordance with the constitutional competences, which in this particular case primarily rest with the governments of the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH. The Government of the Republika Srpska has already declared August 16 as a day of mourning for the tragedy in Gradačac. The Tuzla Canton Government and Brčko District as well,” said Košarac.

Let us remind you that on Friday, August 11, Nermin Sulejmanović from Gradačac killed his ex-wife with a pistol in the presence of his daughter and broadcast it live on the social network “Instagram”.

He then killed a father and son at different locations in Gradačac, and wounded a policeman, a man and a woman.

Sulejmanović committed suicide after that.
