The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Dawn McKen in Sarajevo on September 8, 2026.
Minister Konaković welcomed and successful mandate to Ambassador McKen, and reflected on the cooperation so far, emphasizing the expectation that the successful cooperation between the two countries will continue in the future.
During the visit, they discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the European and Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister Konaković pointed to the political blockades that, under the influence of Russia, come from the leadership of the Republika Srpska and the president of the SNSD, which slow down the progress of our country on the European path.
Minister Konaković informed Ambassador McKen about the intention to reduce diplomatic relations with the Republic of Serbia due to the official support and presence of high-ranking Serbian and Republika Srpska officials at the funeral of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.
Minister Konaković thanked Ambassador McKen for the consistent and long-term support of the United Kingdom to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Dawn McKen, pointed out that during her mandate, she will continue to actively work on further improving the relations between the two countries, which are characterized by mutual respect and friendship.
Ambassador McKen stressed that the United Kingdom remains firmly committed to the sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as continuous support for the reform processes and European integration of our country.
