No mention of ‘Separation’ in BiH in the Declaration adopted in the Presence of Vucic and Dodik

At a joint session of the governments of Serbia and the Bosnian and Herzegovinian (BiH) entity Republika Srpska (RS), a Declaration on the protection of national and political rights and the common future of the Serbian people was unanimously adopted.

The document, as stated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, refers to the Dayton Peace Agreement and does not mention separation in BiH.

This document is expected to be confirmed by the parliaments of Serbia and RS within the next 90 days.

The two governments also adopted a proposal to announce an international competition for the creation of monuments and memorial centers dedicated to the victims of Jasenovac.

The assembly takes place amidst intensified rhetoric from authorities about the “endangerment of the Serbian people” due to the adoption of the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica at the United Nations (UN), opposed by both Belgrade and Banja Luka.

The assembly was attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and RS President Milorad Dodik, as well as officials from the highest institutions of Serbia and RS.

Representatives of Serbs from the region also participated, including Andrija Mandic, the President of the Montenegrin Parliament, and delegate Milan Knezevic.

The assembly also included Serbian Orthodox Church Patriarch Porfirije and other high-ranking church officials.

The assembly began with a prayer service at the Temple of Saint Sava, referred to as a prayer for Serbia and RS.

Afterward, officials, including the Patriarch and church dignitaries, moved to the Palace of Serbia, where meetings and a joint session of the governments of Serbia and RS were held.

What was said at the joint government session?

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated at the joint session of the governments of Serbia and RS that words were carefully chosen in the Declaration and that “there is no mention of separation” in BiH.

The document, he said, refers to the Dayton Peace Agreement, which defines BiH as a state of two entities – the Federation of BiH (FBiH) and RS, and the Brcko District, RSE writes.
