Number of Tourists Increased by 39.4 Percent in August in Comparison to July

touristsIn August 2014, 102,727 tourists visited Bosnia and Herzegovina which is a 39.4 percent increase in comparison to July 2014 and an 8.5 percent increase in comparison to August 2013.

Tourists made 223,849 overnight stays which is a 40.3 percent increase in comparison to July 2014 and 3.4 percent decrease in comparison to August 2013. Domestic tourists made for 38.6 percent of the total number of overnight stays.

The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists represents a 16.1 percent increase in comparison to July 2014 and a 5.8 percent decrease in comparison to August 2013, the BiH Agency for Statistics said.

The number of overnight stays of foreign tourists was an increase for 53.1 percent in comparison to July 2014 and a 2.5 percent decrease in comparison to August 2013.

The greatest percentage of overnight stays in July 2014 were made by tourists from Italy (10.8 percent), Croatia (7.5 percent), Poland (7.4 percent), Turkey (6.7 percent), Serbia (6.5 percent), Kuwait (6.3 percent) and Slovenia (5.2 percent) making a total of 50.4 percent.

Tourists from other countries made 49.6 percent of overnight stays.

In regard to the length of the stays of tourists, tourists from Malta stayed longest 6.3 overnight stays, Egypt 4.7 overnight stays, South Africa 4.5 overnight stays, Kuwait 3.6 overnight stays and Russia with 3.3 overnight stays.
