Numerous Reactions to the HDZ’s Proposal to register Nationalities on ID Cards

”While waiting for the resumption of negotiations on changes to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Croatian Democratic Union (HDZBiH) is not waiting and sitting idly by. Nikola Lovrinovic, the head of the HDZ Caucus in the House of Representatives of the State Parliament, sent the Bill on the Registration of Affiliation to the Constituent People, National Minority, or Others to the procedure. Namely, according to the HDZ’s proposal, affiliation to the constituent people would be entered in the ID card, as well as other documents at the request of the individual. As expected, a number of reactions followed. Social Democratic Party (SDP’s) Damir Masic compared the bill to the Reichstag’s racial laws. The Democratic Front (DF)mentioned that this is an attempt to legalize apartheid. This is the last stronghold of primordial Nazism, ” stated BiH Ambassador to the Czech Republic Martina Mlinarevic, Federalna writes.

The head of the Nasa stranka (Our Party) – Independent Bloc Caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH (PABiH) Predrag Kojovic reacted to HDZ’s Bill on Registration of Affiliation to the Constituent People, National Minority, and Others, noting that “HDZ’s proposal to register affiliation or non-affiliation in the ID cards will not be adopted, and that is where the whole story of this discriminatory proposal should end. “

”Their goal in this pre-election period is to raise tensions and divert the public’s attention from important things that directly affect the lives of citizens, and we must not allow them to succeed in that,” told Kojovic.

Also, he added that they should adopt anti-corruption laws “which they rejected, and which opened the door for us for the European Union (EU) candidate status”.

”Of course, they will not, and their ”no” to fight against corruption must not stifle disgust over their proposals. We know who the HDZ is and what it wants. It has been said many times that peace serves nationalist policies in order to achieve war goals through political means. Looking at this bill in that way, ethnicity in personal documents in peace is the same as the white ribbon in war,” Kojovic emphasized.

According to him, the meaning of the proposal of this law is “to record and sort people by ethnicity and accordingly grant or disable their rights, also that is what is behind their proposal for the Election Law.”

”There are enough of us in BiH who will oppose them, it isabout time to see if there are enough of those people in the international community,” concluded Kojovic, it was announced from Our Party.
