in tuzlaThe official opening of two reconstructed bridges in Brđani in Tuzla, that suffered extensive damages during the recent floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina, took place today. The ceremony was attended by Zekerijah Osmić, Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Anne Havnør, Deputy Chief of the Mission, Embassy of Norway, Jasmin Imamović, Mayor of Tuzla, Major General Dieter Heidecker, Commander, EUFOR ALTHEA, Jasmin Porobić, UNDP Human Security Programme Manager, and many residents of this area who gathered in order to express gratitude for the reconstruction of bridges.

“The project of reconstruction of bridges damaged in the catastrophic floods is just one of the projects with which the BiH Armed Forces fulfill their mission of helping the civilian population. Therefore, I would like to express gratitude to everyone that enabled the BiH Armed Forces to complete their mission and to make life easier for the population of this area“ said minister Osmić.

Thanks to the funds of the Kingdom of Norway Government amounting to BAM 85,000.00, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) managed to purchase all necessary materials for the reconstruction of bridges,. The City of Tuzla built mounds, while the EUFOR mobile team from Austria provided main technical schemes and training for members of BiH Armed Forces for assistance in elimination of consequences of the natural disaster. The practical part of the training consisted of the actual  bridge construction.
