Shane Long Injury sportsport.baShane Long will not play for the national team of Ireland in the first match of playoffs for the European Champinships against B&H in Zenica.

The striker of Southampton, who scored a winning goal for the victory against Germany last month, stayed in his club in order to recover from foot injury.

However, the Irish still hope that this player might play in the rematch in Dublin on Monday.

“Earlier we have said that we will know more in the next 48 hours. We will have an even more precise view of his injury in the coming hours. He is constantly making progress”, said the coach of Ireland Martin O’Neill.

The first match between B&H and Ireland is to be played on Friday in Zenica, starting from 8:45 p.m.
