Representatives of the North Atlantic Council (NAC), led by NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoan, held a series of important meetings with politicians from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the special military forces of the European Union (EUFOR – ALTHEA).
Geoana assures that BiH is a long-term and close partner of NATO.
“What happens in Bosnia and Herzegovina is important for the security of the Western Balkans, and what happens in the Western Balkans is important for all of us in Europe. NATO strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. All political leaders must work together to preserve unity and protect state institutions,” said Geoana.
He also states that NATO has been committed to BiH for years and has supported its reform efforts through its package for building defense capacities.
The OHR announced on the X social network.
“A very significant meeting was held between the North Atlantic Council of NATO and partners from the international community in BiH on the political and security environment in BiH and the Western Balkans region.
NATO is an irreplaceable partner of Bosnia and Herzegovina when it comes to building capacities to preserve peace and security. Euro-Atlantic integration and the implementation of Dayton are not mutually exclusive processes and represent a joint effort to help Bosnia and Herzegovina achieve peace and prosperity,” said the OHR.
