eyofDelegation led by Mayors of Sarajevo and Istočno Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić and Nenad Samardžija, presented the European Youth Olympic Festival 2017 and the Olympic flag to citizens of BiH at the final ceremony which was held at the Olympic Hall ”Juan Antonio Samaranch” at Zetra.

The “tour bus” went to Pale and then municipalities of Sarajevo Canton. Promotional material about EYOF 2017 was distributed in front of the Cathedral and the ceremony ended at the Olympic Hall ”Juan Antonio Samaranch”.

Mayor Komšić is happy with promotion of the Olympics for young athletes and the flag that symbolizes peace, friendship and sports competition.

”Ceremony was successful. Flag was presented, which brought back the Olympic spirit in BiH and which symbolizes peace and friendship and sports competition,” said Komšić.

He emphasized he hopes that EYOF 2017 will be organized successfully and that people will say “these were the best organized winter youth Olympics”, like it was the case after Sarajevo Olympics in 1984.

”We do not have a lot of time. Everyone needs to get engaged in organizing EYOF, but what is most important is that we have support of all levels of government, Olympic committees of BiH and countries of the region and the European Olympic Committee. We must prepare well because there will be 1.500 participants and more than 5.000 guests and we want to be good hosts like in 1984,” concluded Mayor of Sarajevo.
