Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina called on Retailers to act in accordance with Good Business Practices during Epidemics

The institution of Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina has called on retailers and service providers to act in accordance with good business practices during the epidemic crisis in BiH and not use the crisis to unreasonably increase the prices of goods and services, as well to refrain from other forms of consumer rights violations, Fena news agency reports.

The Institution stated it is necessary to ensure a regular supply, the functioning of the procurement system, as well as the performance of basic utilities, whose failure would result in an additional threat to the current situation.

Also, they urged consumers to act in accordance with the recommendations of the competent health authorities and other bodies at the level of local communities.

In the case of the procurement of goods, the expiry dates for food and other products should be taken into account, and that any new forms of infringement of their rights be reported to the competent consumer protection authorities and inspection bodies in order to act systematically.

Also, in case of cancellation of travel due to extraordinary circumstances that could not be predicted, avoided or eliminated, the organizer is obliged to reimburse the passengers for the amount paid, not including the compensation for damages.

“If the contract was canceled during the trip itself, then the organizer is entitled to fair compensation for the services provided to the consumer,” said the Ombudsman Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since the last report on the epidemiological situation in Republika Srpska entity, a new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has been confirmed in three persons, Viejsti.ba news portal reports.

The total number of people confirmed with new coronavirus in Republika Srpska entity is 18, and the total number is 21.

Republika Srpska Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Seranic, who is the president of the headquarters for monitoring the epidemiological situation in the Republika Srpska in connection with the new corona virus, will hold a meeting of the staff on Sunday at 9 p.m. After the meeting, Minister Seranic will hold a press conference at 10.00 at the Press Center of the Government of Republika Srpska, where he will inform the public about the current epidemiological situation in RS.

Minister of Education, Science and Youth of the Sarajevo Canton Anis Krivic has sent an order on the suspension of work of preschool institutions and extended stay in primary schools in Sarajevo Canton, Klix.banews portal reports.

As stated, work in pre-school institutions shall be suspended for a period of at least 15 days and extended stay until March 25th this year.

This order comes into force on Friday and was issued in accordance with the orders of the Federal Crisis Staff and the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Canton Sarajevo.

The decision of the Crisis Staff of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity to suspend classes in primary and secondary schools, as well as at the universities in the Federation of BiH.

Under the same decision all theater and cinema shows, as well as sports activities and other public gatherings are canceled for a period of two weeks as of Thursday.

The Federal Minister of Health Vjekoslav Mandic said at a press conference on Wednesday that the epidemiological situation in the FBiH is still stable but also requires the maximum responsibility of each individual.

The decision to suspend classes will be formally announced during the day to all schools and universities.

These measures are taken following the coronavirus situation in Europe as well as in the region.

All levels of government in Bosnia-Herzegovina claim that the epidemiological situation regarding the country’s coronavirus is not dramatic. In BiH, seven cases of infection with this virus have been confirmed so far, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.

The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an order to all field offices at our country’s border crossings to ban persons from Italy, Iran, South Korea and certain parts of China, namely the Hubei provinces and the city of Wuhan, from entering the country.

As confirmed by the Border Police, the order was sent to all field offices and they are already acting on it.

The decision came into force immediately after Bosnian Border Police Director Zoran Galic received an official request from Bosnian Security Minister Fahrudin Radoncic last night to act in accordance with his authority. Earlier, Minister Radoncic received the full support of the Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija for this decision, as well as the entity Prime Ministers Fadil Novalic and Radovan Viskovic.
