The well-known online travel guide Lonely Planet recently published a list of the best travel destinations for 2024, and it also included Mostar on the list of the best cities.

Lonely Planet divided the best destinations into four categories: countries, regions, cities and value destinations.

Namely, Mostar took fourth place on the list of the best cities to visit in 2024, and these cities took first three places: the capital of Kenya – Nairobi, the capital of France – Paris, and Montreal, which is located in Canada. The list also includes Philadelphia (United States – U.S.), Manaus (Brazil), Jakarta (Indonesia), Prague (Czech Republic), Izmir (Turkey) and Kansas City (U.S.).

In the “best countries” category, Croatia took ninth place, while Mongolia took the first place. It is followed by India, Morocco, Chile, Benin, Mexico, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and St Lucia.

It is interesting that the Western Balkans are ranked among the best regions, where the Trans Dinarica cycling route, which passes through Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Croatia, stands out in first place.

Other regions recommended by Lonely Planet are: Kangaroo Island (South Australia), Tuscany (Italy), Donegal (Ireland), Pais Vasco (Spain), Southern Thailand, Swahili Coast (Tanzania), Montana (U.S.), Saalfelden Leogang (Austria) and Far North Scotland.

Finally, there is a list of “value destinations”, according to their research: Midwest (U.S.), Poland, Nicaragua, Danube Limes (Bulgaria), Normandy (France), Egypt, Ikaria (Greece), Algeria, Southern Lakes & Central Otago (New Zealand) and European night trains.
