nighttime sarajevoVienna is declared as the city with the best quality of life in the world for the 7th time in a row, and Baghdad is in the last place. Sarajevo is in the 158th place.

The capital city of Austria is at the top of the list, while London, Paris and New York are not even among the first 35, according to data of international research quality of life.

Zurich, Munich, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt joined Vienna in the top 7 cities, Paris dropped for 10 places and it is now in 37th position, while London is on the 39th place. Capital city of England is at this place due to the sensitivity on terrorist attacks.

The research included social and economic conditions, health, education, housing and the environment.

Thirdy two years – old Helena Hartlauer from Vienna said that she is not surprised by the results of research. The Social Democratic government invests a lot, but Vienna is one of the most affordable among the big cities when it comes to housing costs.

“I live in an apartment of 100 m2, which is 20 minutes away from the city center. I pay rent 800 EUR per month,” said Hartlauer.

Monthly rents in London cost 2,566 EUR, in New York even more. American cities are not on the enviable position on this list because of poor security and crime. Top-ranked US city is San Francisco, which is on the 28th place. Boston is on the 34th place.

“We do not understand how Vienna is safe until we go abroad. We have a great public transport that works 24 hours a day, and one ride costs only 1 EUR,” added Hartlauer.

According to the World Bank, GDP per citizen in Austria is one of the highest in the world, slightly behind the US and before Germany and Great Britain.

After lowering the price of flights, Vienna has even more tourists. The British are coming over the weekend. Instead of visiting Barcelona or Berlin, they are coming to Austria, enjoying the city, mountains and skiing.

Sarajevo is in 158th place, Belgrade in 141st place and Zagreb on 98th.
