One-month Detention ordered for Tarik Prusac, suspected of Murdering his Wife

The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo issued a decision today, accepting the proposal of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor’s Office to order one-month detention for the suspect Tarik Prusac, due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of aggravated murder of a woman.

According to the Cantonal Court, detention under this decision may last for one month, starting from May 1, 2026, or until a new court decision.

An appeal against the decision does not postpone its execution.

The Sarajevo Cantonal Court held a hearing today to order the detention of Prusac, who killed his wife Elma Godinjak-Prusac in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Dobrinja on Friday, May 1.

The prosecutor in charge of the case, Iva Kurilić, proposed detention due to the risk that the suspect could commit a criminal offense if released and that his release would disrupt public order.
