One of the heaviest Snowfalls in Years is a Forecast for BiH

Today, winter has also begun in terms of the calendar, and the weather in the coming period will be truly wintery. Next week is preparing one of the heaviest snowfalls in the past few years, meteorologists say.

“According to current forecasts, most of Bosnia and northern parts of Herzegovina can expect significant snowfall. Mountainous areas up to a meter of new snow and some lowlands over 30 cm. We will wait a little longer with the final estimates of the snow depth, but, by all accounts, a serious winter cyclone is coming to us.”, meteorologists BHMeteo.ba say.

According to the forecast of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute, Bosnia and Herzegovina can expect changeable and cold weather with precipitation in the coming days.

The morning will be mostly sunny, but it will gradually become cloudy from the northwest during the day. Rain is expected in most areas in the late evening hours, while snow will fall in higher areas and on the mountains. There will be a weak to moderate south and southwest wind, with occasional strong gusts in the south and southwest during the night. Morning temperatures will be between -8 and -2 °C, in the south up to 2 °C, while daytime temperatures will be from 0 to 6 °C, in the south up to 10 °C.

Cloudy weather with rain in Herzegovina, while snow is expected in the rest of the country. Precipitation will range from 20 to 40 liters per square meter in most areas, while locally in the north and northwest of Bosnia it will fall up to 50 l/m². The height of new snow will range between 10 and 25 cm, and in higher areas and on the mountains from 20 to 40 cm, locally up to 50 cm. The wind will be weak to moderate north and northwest, with occasional strong gusts in the west and northwest of Bosnia. Temperatures in Bosnia from -2 to 3 °C, in Herzegovina from 3 to 8 °C.

Cloudy weather with precipitation. Rain or sleet is expected in the lower parts of Bosnia, which will later turn into snow. In higher areas and on the mountains, snow will fall throughout the day. Light to moderate winds in the morning, and strengthening of the north and northwest winds in the afternoon and during the night, with occasional strong gusts. Temperatures in Bosnia from -4 to 2 °C, and in Herzegovina from 3 to 8 °C.

Cloudy weather with snow is expected in Bosnia, while in Herzegovina it will be moderately to mostly cloudy. In the west of Herzegovina and Bosnia, a moderate to strong bora will blow, while in the rest of the country the wind will be weak to moderate north and northwest. Morning temperatures will range from -6 to 0 °C, in the south to 3 °C, and daytime temperatures from -3 to 2 °C, in the south to 10 °C.
