The Head of the UN fears that everything could “get out of Control”

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has reacted to the US attack on Iran, calling it a “dangerous escalation”.

“I am deeply disturbed by the use of force by the United States of America against Iran today. This is a dangerous escalation in a region already on the brink – and a direct threat to international peace and security,” he said.

He then expressed concern that the situation could spiral out of control.

“There is a growing risk that this conflict could quickly spiral out of control – with catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region and the world,” he said.
He called on UN member states to de-escalate and fulfill their obligations under the UN Charter and other rules of international law.

“At this dangerous moment, it is crucial to avoid a spiral of chaos. There is no military solution. Diplomacy is the only way forward. Peace is the only hope,” Guterres believes.
