Opinion: Entity Borders need to be erased and a united BiH established

The President of the SDP Caucus in the Parliament of Montenegro, Draginja Vuksanovic-Stankovic, in an interview a few days ago opened a very important issue of establishing a stable Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) that, like its Montenegro, will resist neighborhood pressures.

Establishment of a unified BiH

While Belgrade and Zagreb are once again strongly interfering in BiH relations, giving support to their agents in the form of SNSD and HDZBiH, the question arises – how to proceed?

Considering the crisis that is seriously pressing BiH, Vuksanovic-Stankovic said, among other things:

We have seen that there are also big problems in BiH. Revival of Greater Serbia and Greater State projects, with the aim of rounding off the idea of the “Serbian world”. I have said before that BiH urgently needs to adjust to the process of European integration which means erasing the borders of the entities and working on a new constitutional arrangement that would include a unified BiH so that BiH, as a stable and unified territory, could join the European Union (EU),” noted Vuksanovic-Stankovic.

BiH and Montenegro in the EU

She further said that democratic and anti-fascist Montenegro gives full support to friendly BiH!

“Obviously, the policy pursued by official Belgrade in Republika Srpska (RS) is trying to resurrect these great state projects that would, God forbid, take us back to the 1990s. And we want a stable BiH and a stable Montenegro. We want BiH in the EU and Montenegro in the EU. I believe that the information from the international partners will be clear where the line will not be crossed,” Vuksanovic-Stankovic pointed out on that occasion.

Also, judging by the working draft of the “Appeal for the Salvation of BiH”, Stjepan Mesic, Bogic Bogicevic, and Vasil Tupurkovski, former members of the SFRY Presidency will offer a radically opposite view on resolving the crisis in BiH. But at the same time, it is on the trail of the solution mentioned by Vuksanovic-Stankovic.

The working draft of the Appeal, which was given to Zagreb’s Nacional, includes three pages of text, and the final and agreed text will be sent, as indicated, “to all those who are related“.

Brave solutions and faith in BiH

If that is the case, isn’t it time, as Miro Lazovic says, to bravely come up with a project that will offer a different organization of BiH than this Dayton one!

It is clear that the entities, the existing ones and those that are increasingly sought after, are becoming disruptive factors in BiH. Instead of pressures to form a third entity and transfer power from the state to the RS, which seeks to destroy state institutions, should a different paradigm be offered?

We must not lose faith in a free, democratic, multiethnic, anti-fascist BiH, a state of equal citizens of this country, holders of the BiH passport. Because only in that case would we really be defeated.
