On March 16 and 17, a regular session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Nouakchott, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. At the session, at the proposal of the Republic of Turkey, a resolution on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was unanimously adopted.

The meeting, which was attended by foreign ministers and representatives of 57 member countries, observer countries and partner organizations, was held under the motto “Moderation: the key to security and stability”, reports MINA.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has observer status in that organization, was represented by Ambassador Muhamed Jusić, the permanent representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the OIC.

A resolution on the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was unanimously adopted at the session, at the proposal of the Republic of Turkey.

The resolution emphasizes, among other things, support for the implementation of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina with annexes, as well as relevant decisions of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC). It also confirms the permanent support of the OIC member states to the preservation of the unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty and international identity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within its internationally recognized borders, as a fully functional and self-sustaining state, capable of exercising its powers and fulfilling its international obligations, with its multi-ethnic, multicultural and multi-religious structure.

All OIC members, 57 of them, condemn and reject all conclusions, statements and activities of representatives of lower levels of government, which undermine the competences of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and call for secessionism and the creation of new territorial units, which violates the General Framework Agreement for Peace and the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also threatens peace and security, not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also in the entire region of the Western Balkans.
