The OSCE Mission to BiH, with the support of the governments of Great Britain, Norway, Switzerland, USA and Italy, will present in Sarajevo today a project called “Prosecuting War Crimes”.

Ensuring appropriate and effective prosecution of war crimes is one of the priorities of the OSCE Mission.

With the current number of 1.300 pending cases, improving human and material resources of the judicial institutions in BiH in order to end the pending cases is crucial.

The project “Prosecuting War Crimes”, financed by the governments of Great Britain, Norway, Switzerland, USA and Italy, represents a partnership between the Mission and BiH institutions in lending support to BiH in dealing with the past and achieving justice.

The project will ‘bridge’ the period until 2014, when it will become available for funds from the IPA program of the EU.

Opening speeches will be given by Ambassador Peter Sorenesen, Head of the EU/Special Representative of the EU to BiH, Milorad Novković, President of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, Meddžida Kreso, President of the BiH Court, Goran Salihović, Chief State Prosecutor, Mahmut Švraka, Chief Prosecutor of the RS and Zdravko Knežević, Chief Prosecutor of the FBiH.

On this occasion, a conference for the media will be organized and attended by the Ambassador of Great Britain Nigel Casey, Deputy Ambassador of Norway Mariam Naqvi, Deputy Ambassador of Switzerland Lukas Rosenkranz, US Ambassador Patrick Moon and the Ambassador of Italy Raimondo de Cardona.

The presentation will be held today in hotel Europe, and press statements are scheduled fro 10:15.
