The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, called on the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to speed up the membership process for Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) during the Ukrainian crisis and the disturbing security situation and to leave political differences aside.
Osmani says NATO must note that this crisis can spread to the Balkans and other parts of Europe and that Kosovo and BiH’s membership in the Alliance is crucial for the security of the whole of Europe.
She also pointed out that Kosovo clearly stands by the people of Ukraine, while Serbia has once again clearly shown that it is on the side of Russia. She also spoke about Russia’s intentions and goals in the Western Balkans, which it is trying to achieve through Serbia.
Further, she fiercely criticized the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, saying that he was using Milorad Dodik to destroy the unity of BiH.
Osmani is on an official visit to Turkey, and yesterday she met with Turkish President Erdogan in Ankara. The topic of the meeting was, among other things, NATO and the situation in the Balkans.
The President of Kosovo gave an exclusive interview for the Turkish state television, the international channel TRT World, for the show Across the Balkans dedicated to the Balkans, edited and hosted by Nafisa Latic.
