Over 4,700 Doctors announced to go on a General Strike

In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, doctors of medicine and dentistry, about 4,700 of them, will go on a general strike if the federal government and the Ministry of Health do not take concrete steps to solve the problems in this area by the end of the year.

The president of the Federation of Professional Unions of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry FBiH, Marina Berberović, said that if there is no response by December 31, she will file a lawsuit for discrimination against the federal government and the line ministry, which will be the first time that the union has sued the government.

She pointed out that in the FBiH, in all 10 cantons, there are different collective agreements, which led to the fact that the salaries and other rights of doctors differ by as much as 50 percent, the media reports.

According to her, this is precisely the reason why doctors leave small communities.

She noted that a general strike requires a procedure that lasts about 15 days, and a discrimination lawsuit does not require anything, so she will start it immediately.

If the Government does not solve the problem, the Federation of Professional Unions of Doctors of Medicine and Dentistry FBiH will announce a meeting of the Board of Directors immediately at the beginning of January next year, at which they will decide whether to proceed with another warning strike or whether a general strike will be scheduled immediately.
