The Head of the EU Delegation and Special Representative of the EU to BiH Ambassador Peter Sorensen, the Ambassador of Spain to BiH Auroro Mejia Errasquin, Ambassador of Bulgaria Angel Angelov and the Deputy Head of the German Mission Christiana Markert visited Travnik today.

Ambassador Sorensen and EU member diplomats began their visit with the mayor of Travnik municipality and the President of the Municipal Council Admir Hadžiemrić and Nikom Grganović, respectively.

They held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Central Bosnia Canton (SBK) Tahir Lendo and the President of the SBK Josip Kvasina.

During the meeting, Prime Minister of the SBK Tahir Lendo presented to the guests the opportunities for cooperation in the Canton, and expressed his desire for stabilization of the economy that should pave the way for European integration.

The Canton has already taken concrete steps towards this path, such as opening an office for EU integration.

Ambassador Sorenson spoke of the importance of direct contact of European diplomats with cantonal authorities and welcomed the steps that the SBK government has taken to move towards European integration.

Chairman of the SBK Council Josip Kvasina informed the guests of the work and functioning of the Assembly and particularities in the canton.

With this visit, the EU has shown how it recognizes the role of local government in fulfilling European values and standards.

European diplomats visited the memorial museum in Travnik-the house of Ivo Andrić, the Travnik fort and the location of the planned construction of the Square of Europe.
