Parents of Bosniak Children from Konjević Polje Keep Fighting for a National Group of School Subjects

Parlament-djeca-Konjevic-poljeFive days before the beginning of the new school year parents of children of the Bosniak nationality from Konjević Polje do not have a solution for their children. After the Basic Court in Srebrenica adopted some measures according to which children should be able to enroll in this educational institution again and introduce a national group of school subjects, nothing happened.

The parent representative of the children from Konjević Polje Muhizin Omerović told FENA that the school was obliged to conduct enrollments of pupils after the decision of the Basic Court in Srebrenica and to make a formal decision which would introduce a national group of school subjects.

“The school has still not complied with the decision of the Court. We had a meeting with the school principle and she said that they filed an appeal to the District Court in Bijeljina and they are waiting for a decision of that Court.

They have the right to appeal but the appeal did not delay the enforcement of the decision of the Basic Court in Srebrenica. They were obliged to make a formal decision and a decision to introduce a national group of subjects,” emphasized Omerović.

He also added that the principle told the parents they cannot do anything without the consent of the ministry and they will probably have to wait for the court process to finalize and then make the decision.

The continuation of education of children from Konjević Polje in Nova Kasaba is in a negotiation stage, Omerović said.
