Paris refuses to pay Mbappe 55 Million Euros

The Joint Appeals Commission of the French football league’s governing body (LFP) has once again ordered Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) football club to pay 55 million euros in unpaid wages and bonuses demanded by its former star Kylian Mbappe, but the club has refused.

This deadlock between PSG and Mbappe continues – on one side, the player refuses mediation, while on the other, PSG declines to pay the 55 million euros, despite the Joint Appeals Commission of the LFP mandating the payment.

This decision, made on Friday, is not binding on the club, which is waiting for a judicial ruling from the relevant commercial court.

The conflict between the two parties originates from an agreement reached in August 2023 between the striker and PSG management.

The LFP’s legal committee, which Mbappe asked to intervene, recommended mediation last month. However, after he rejected it, the committee immediately requested PSG to pay the 55 million within a week, which the club appealed.

The Joint Appeals Commission has therefore upheld the same decision, ordering the payment of 55 million euros.

There are still several appeal options: the French Football Federation (FFF), which oversees the higher appeals commission; the administrative court; and mediation before the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF). Mbappe can also contact UEFA.

“Now that the appeals committee has confirmed the opinion of the legal committee, PSG has decided to take the matter to the competent court – while continuing efforts to reach an amicable solution with the player,” a club spokesperson explained.

This dispute between the French champion club and Mbappe arises amid the opening of a rape investigation in Sweden. After the player and his entourage visited Stockholm two weeks ago, Swedish media confirmed that the star is at the center of the investigation.
