The leader of the SDP nm party, Nermin Nikšić, said that the representatives of the parties that make up the government at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina today agreed on the law on preventing money laundering, as well as three working groups that should harmonize the laws on conflicts of interest in the institutions of BiH, on the courts and the election law.
“We did not talk about concrete solutions, which is why our representatives will work intensively under the coordination of the minister of justice in the Council of Ministers,” said Nikšić at the press conference.
He said that each time they are closer to agreements and solutions.
“When we sit down, we assess that it is important to fulfill the conditions in order to win negotiations for EU membership,” Nikšić added.
According to him, they discussed that they insist that, if there are negotiations, Bosnia and Herzegovina will immediately receive a date to see that what is being done in Bosnia and Herzegovina is recognized.
Dodik: The European way is possible without the interference of Schmidt
SNSD president Milorad Dodik said that the political party he represents advocates the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but without any interference from the high representative Christian Schmidt.
After the meeting, Dodik said that if Schmidt, whom he called false again, does anything, the agreements from the meetings are invalid and in that case there is no European path for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“If they can go with his decisions or just their own, then let them go. We will not participate in that, whatever it is,” said Dodik.
He said that he is convinced that it is possible to reach a harmonized text of the law on conflict of interest at the level of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Čović: Bosniaks can no longer be allowed to elect a member of the BiH Presidency to the Croat people
HDZ BiH leader Dragan Čović said today that it is no longer possible to allow the Bosniak people to choose a member of the BiH Presidency over the Croat people.
Čović pointed out that, when it comes to that, everyone is in agreement.
“Since that’s the case, let’s go to protect ourselves for the next elections so that there cannot be such an approach of certain policies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Čović told reporters.
He stated that the proposal is very simple and that only the part that refers to the member of the BiH Presidency from among the Croatian people with additional conditions is changed, but that it is not a comprehensive change.
“The comprehensive change will be when the Constitution is amended and when we can apply all the decisions of the Court in Strasbourg and the judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Čović emphasized.
He said that the previous discussions on the Electoral Law concerned three elements, namely technical changes that can be very broad, the selection of members of the BiH Presidency, and the part that referred to the Central Election Commission.
But, since there are no changes to the Constitution of BiH, the only option left is to resolve the issue of the election of the members of the Presidency of BiH, which HDZ BiH insists on.
The meeting of the leaders of the parliamentary parties that make up the majority at the state level was held today in Sarajevo.
The meeting was attended by the presidents of SNSD Milorad Dodik, HDZ BiH Dragan Čović, and the leaders of the “troika” consisting of the presidents of SDP Nermin Nikšić, People and Justice Elmedin Konaković and Our Party Edin Forto, BHRT reports.
