The ceremony marking the 140th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was held yesterday in Tuzla. Serbian Patriarch Porphyry arrived as a special guest, who said for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) that it is a country of ups and downs, but also of beauty and love.

A large number of believers, religious officials and some officials, including Minister in the Government of the Republic of Serbia Nenad Popovic, attended yesterday’s ceremony marking the 140th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin in Tuzla.

Bishop Fotije of Zvornik and Tuzla and Serbian Patriarch Porphyry appeared as special religious officials, who gave a speech.

While addressing the audience, he expressed joy because he is in the holy temple and BiH, for which he said is beautiful country of deeds, prayers, love, temptations and falls.

“But, in the end, it is a country inhabited by people led by God. Everyone knows that it is not enough to say that BiH is close to me. A lot of things, not only imprinted in my childhood memory, but certainly much more in my being and it shows up where I want it, but also when I’m not aware of it, ” Porphyry stressed.

”This city and this occasion for which we came reminds us of the fact that every nation has a temple, a need for God and a place to come to calm down, to be contrite and to see its shortcomings and weaknesses, but also to see the incalculable the possibilities of his actions when he turns to God, trying to live by his commandments and the law. All the people who live here, Orthodox, Catholics, Muslims and others, have their place, their temple where they come and where they pray to God, “Porphyry added, Klix.ba writes.
